Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) System
A ZLD System is an advanced wastewater treatment solution designed to completely eliminate liquid discharge from industrial processes. It enables industries to recover and reuse maximum water from wastewater while converting dissolved solids into dry waste for safe disposal. ZLD systems help industries comply with strict environmental regulations and significantly reduce freshwater consumption.
The ZLD process integrates multiple treatment technologies to treat, concentrate, and crystallize wastewater streams. Typically, the system begins with pre-treatment and biological treatment to remove suspended solids, organic contaminants, and reduce COD/BOD levels. After primary treatment, the wastewater passes through membrane filtration systems such as Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) to recover reusable water.
The high TDS reject from RO is further treated in evaporation systems such as Multi Effect Evaporator or Mechanical Vapor Recompression to concentrate dissolved salts. The final concentrated slurry is then processed in Agitated Thin Film Dryer to produce dry solids, ensuring zero liquid discharge from the plant.
ZLD systems are engineered with energy-efficient designs, corrosion-resistant materials, and automated control systems to ensure reliable performance even with difficult industrial effluents. These systems are suitable for handling wastewater with high TDS, scaling, and complex chemical compositions.
