The Agitated Thin Film Evaporator (ATFE) is an industrial evaporation system designed for the efficient concentration of high-viscosity liquids, chemical solutions, and effluents. The ATFE ensures rapid heat transfer and uniform evaporation by forming a thin, agitated film of liquid on a heated surface, making it highly effective for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems, chemical processing, and pharmaceutical applications.
The ATFE combines thin film technology with an internal rotor and scraper assembly, preventing scaling, fouling, or degradation of heat-sensitive materials, and producing concentrated liquid or semi-solid discharge.

Here's how they work
- Feed Introduction: The liquid solution to be concentrated enters the first evaporator or effect.
- Heating and Evaporation: An external heat source, typically steam, heats the liquid in the first effect, causing a portion of the solvent to evaporate.
- Vapor Utilization: The vapor generated in the first effect is then used as the heating medium for the second effect. This process continues sequentially, with the vapor from each effect heating the subsequent effect.
- Progressive Concentration: As the liquid moves through each effect, its concentration increases.
- Condensation and Collection: The vapor from the last effect is typically condensed and collected as distillate, while the concentrated liquid is collected as the final product.
- Reduced Pressure and Temperature: Each effect operates at a progressively lower pressure and temperature, optimizing energy utilization and enhancing efficiency.
- Energy Efficiency and Cost Savings: MEEs dramatically reduce energy consumption and operating costs by reusing the heat (latent heat) from the vapor multiple times.
